I'd like to see you guys being affected by what happened to Japan and then laugh about banning aftershock and water magic. Also, raise awareness? really? when everything you see on the main pages of yahoo and youtube are "donate to the japan catastrophies" ? This thread is a joke and it's been turned into a "ban aftershock LULWUT?" thread. Good job

So much misplaced optimism in this thread lol. Lemming is completely correct with his Haiti reference if you ask me. The only reason NCSoft supports Japan is because it's a huge market for them. Don't be blinded by altruism guys. The 6,3 mill they invested was to ensure that things would be rebuilt faster. Also, they will get it back -easily- because now, Japanese people will remember their donation and will be more likely to buy stuff from them. Psychological marketing.

Also, Japan is a pretty solid country and has enough big palls in the world to get over it. Countries like Haiti -where, if you look at the situation now, still nothing has changed- get attention a couple weeks, and are then completely forgotten and left in the dumpster to get over it themselves, which they can't. I voted no -obviously- because adding such a feature is redundant and the only thing it will do is stroke people's egos. "I'm so cool cause I helped a country in need, go me!".

Right here right now, Japan is getting help with a huge contribution from NCSoft. Reasons are irrelevant as long as people's lives are saved. If Haiti didn't receive same amount of support, I'm sorry for them although I know they did receive a lot of support from other sources.

Right now.. I'm just happy that people in need will receive help.

And what do you respond? Or are you just making witty comments on forums about it?

I was commenting on the fact that all people here are being so optimistic and fail to see NCSofts real motives in supporting Japan. I was also commenting on your "I'm just happy that those in need receive help." whilst there are people in this world in much more dire need, but the only reason everyone is going "omg Japan, that's so sad" is because the media is blowing it up entirely, and the fact that it's the newest shiny disaster that happened that they can use to pretend to care about others. You enjoy it and you know it.

So what if they have self-interests in this, it's a private company and they can do as they like. Would it be better they would not donate at all? Or are you asking that they will become a charity organization and donate to everyone in need?

I am not condemning NCSoft for their donation, I think their donation is great and all, and there are people in Japan that do really need it, but I think the fact that everyone in this thread is going all "gogo NCSoft" and "we want to do our bit, because we're so awesome and Japan really needs us" is ridiculous and it's quite disgusting in my opinion (in my language we have a very specific word for a situation like this, that looks a lot like disgusting but don't know the english equivalent). Stop being so self indulgent and stop pretending to be caring, because if you would really care, you would donate to the ones in most dire need, and Japan is not that.

I am sorry that I am such a cynic, I am just like that. I think charity is awesome -I give to charity myself and I'm not even 18 yet- but the way people act towards charity is ridiculous. They always depict themselves as being so generous and so awesome when they pretend to care about the next big disaster in the world, whilst they actually enjoy stuff like that.

Well since this is a Guild Wars related website and NCSoft is Guild Wars related, it's not so surprising is it? They might have donated partly/greatly/purely for selfish reasons but in the end, if it helps people then who are we to argue about it.

Perhaps it will encourage other companies to do similar, and not to Japan but to any country they feel an affiliation too that might be in need of that time.

I am rather concerned that this thread may turn into a discussion or argument that we don't need right now. Before it spirals there,
